Cimbali Junior Espresso
Coffee Grinders
Overview:
La Cimbali, one of the worlds leading manufacturer of commercial
espresso machines, also produces some of the finest espresso grinders
in the US market today. Besides being one of the finest made espresso
grinders, it's one of the very few in it's class that will fit
under most kitchen cabinets and is considered small, but powerful
for the commercial setting! This grinder isn't for everyone, but
if you're looking for a high quality commercial grade espresso
grinder that won't look out of place, you have found it.
Considered La Cimbali's "budget" grinder, the Junior
rivals grinders like the Mazzer Mini in terms of build quality,
durability, and the "be all, end all" in espresso grinders.
Everything about the Junior is tight, smooth, massive and reeks
of quality. No reason this grinder could not be used in any commercial
setting. The grinder can be noisy as it grinds your coffee beans
very fast!
The styling is very appealing while incorporating many desired
features: large grounds catch tray, variable doser, and a high
capacity bean hopper. The vernier control of the grinder burrs
is just amazing! It uses a detented worm gear drive knob to control
the grind fineness to the nth degree. The adjustment for grind
fineness can be time consuming - up to 40 turns to go from auto
drip to espresso. Just like other espresso coffee grinders, it
is not recommended for different coffee brewing methods. You should
ALWAYS change grind settings while the grinder motor is powered
on. There is also a numeric reading conveniently located below
the bean hopper to let you know where your desired grind setting
is located.
Finally, a heavy-duty electrical cord connects at the bottom
- not from the side body panel. The grinder is on feet so that
the cord can escape out from underneath in any direction.
Features:
- Stepless micro metrical grind adjustment knob conveniently
located on front panel - upper left side.
- Power on/off switch on lower front panel.
- Built-in tamper on front.
- Tinted bean and dosing hopper.

handle) x 14.2" D.

defect.
Notes:
- Many La Cimbali 'home use' grinder customers only grind enough
beans and then dose everything out of the doser. In a commercial
environment where there is constant usage, the doser is usually
filled up half way so that the proper dose can be achieved. In
cases where the doser is utilized, one can adjust the doser portion
control, the center stem inside the doser needs to be depressed
slightly downward and rotated clockwise for smaller portions and
counterclockwise for larger portions. Please be careful when going
to larger portions because at some point, the stem can come out.
- As with all coffee grinders, it is very important to
only change grind settings on Cimbali coffee grinders when the
unit is powered 'on' and the burrs are in motion. If
you do not do this, the burrs will 'gunk' up and require cleaning
by you every time this occurs. Changing the grind settings when
the burrs are not in motion will render the grinder to only produce
very coarse grinds or no grinds at all. If this result occurs,
this will be considered operator error for lack of following directions,
and not be classified as a defective grinder.
- Cimbali grinders are considered commercial equipment for grinding
coffee only and can not be returned once used.
- Usage: To adjust the dosage of coffee from the doser, please
make sure to press the stem down before turning. Once down, you
also need to hold the vanes. Be careful not to turn too much as
the assembly can lock or come off. Looking from the top of the
doser, the knob turns counter-clockwise to dose more ground coffee
and clockwise to dose less ground coffee.
- When you receive the grinder, you may have issues with turning
the doser adjustment knob. It needs a lot of force. It can be
difficult due to the awkward hand position. However, it will eventually
turn and 'break in'. One hint is one finger from one hand will
need to hold the doser vane while the other hand's fingers turn
adjustment knob.
